National Board Applications

Members of the USPTA Nominating Committee are searching for candidates who are interested in serving on our national Board of Directors for the term running from January, 2018 through December, 2019. To serve on the national board, you must be a member in good standing with a minimum certification level of Elite Professional. Anyone who fits these qualifications is eligible and encouraged to apply. Please see below for the application process. The deadline for submitting nominations is March 1 at 5 PM EST.

Background:
The USPTA is run by a national Executive Committee.  This committee consists of two elected officers from each of the 17 U.S. divisions, the last three immediate past national presidents, and an eight-member national Board of Directors.  The Executive Committee legislates all policy matters and meets twice a year. The Board of Directors handles the affairs of the Association between meetings of the Executive Committee. It is comprised of the national president, the first vice president, five vice presidents and the immediate past president. Also on the board as nonvoting members are the CEO and the general counsel.

Time Commitment
It is important that candidates understand that there is a significant time commitment associated with serving as a USPTA national board member.  The sample schedule below provides a sense for what the time commitment might look like on an annual basis.

 • 4 Board Meetings  2-3 days each
 • 2-3 Board Conference Calls  1-2 hours max for each
 • World Conference in late summer or fall  6-7 days
 • 2-3 Division Conferences  2-3 days each
 • Additional Meetings (CMAA, USTA, TIA, etc.)  2-6 days per year
 • Committee Work  10-20 hours per month
