- Tools to Advance & Thrive as a Director of Racquet Sports

Kim Bastable

Take the next step in your career through understanding what it takes to succeed both personally and professionally. This course will address the personal challenges of being a leader within the racquets industry and how to ensure you thrive. Kim will address some of the specific skills that every Director of Racquet Sports needs to be able to execute – skills you do not learn on the tennis court. Interestingly, coaches will find some of those tips in interesting places such as the perspective of your own competition mindset and what they learned while under pressure as junior player and through the example of a world-class explorer, who defied the odds and survived arctic conditions and the sinking of his ship. Career advancement can be left to chance, or you can direct where you want to go through the lens of your own skills, talents, experiences, and goals. This class will inspire coaches to advance their career purposefully.

Increasing the Impact & Effectiveness of the Most Devastating Tennis Weapon

Mackie Shilstone

Whether it's related to tactical, industrial, or athletic confrontation, the impact and effectiveness of the weapon of choice will represent the difference between the accomplishment of the objective or failure. In tennis, command and control of the serve is the most important weapon a competitor has in his or her arsenal. Success is simple - the opponent fails to effectively react. While first serves rarely result in an Ace, enhanced ball speed and placement will limit the opponent's return options. Mackie Shilstone will demonstrate a protocol to prepare the shoulder to serve then accelerate ball speed to the intended target.

Sarah Stone

The average rally length is around four shots, but what does that really mean? Trying to end points quickly can be risky and typically ends up in 0-4 shot rallies being lost rather than won. Shifting the mindset to forcing errors completely changes the game. Using ball control to dominate the baseline means putting the player under a lot of pressure. Dominating on the baseline starts on the practice court with superior shot execution and understanding patterns that suit your game style. Join Sarah Stone to learn drills that will teach your players how to control the ball and force their opponents into making errors.
