LAKE NONA, Fla. – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) is proud to name Kim Gidley of Colorado Springs, Colo., the 2020 USPTA Steve Wilkinson College Coach of the Year.
“The improvement of the Air Force Academy women’s team is a testament to Kim and her quality as a tennis teacher,” USPTA CEO John Embree said. “She instills in her team a love of the sport that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.”
In 2019, Kim Gidley led the Air Force Academy women’s tennis team to a 22-3 record, which tied a school record for wins and set a new Division I era program record. The Falcons became the first service academy women’s tennis team to be ranked in the top 50. Air Force captured the Mountain West Conference championship and Gidley was named conference coach of the year. Additionally, four of her players were named to the Mountain West Academic All-Conference team. Gidley is a 22-year USPTA member.
