LAKE NONA, Fla. – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) has hired James P. Burke as its new Director of Marketing and Communications. Burke will join the USPTA National Staff on Monday, May 4.
“We’re very excited to bring Jim aboard,” USPTA CEO John Embree said. “He brings years of valuable experience and will be a tremendous asset as we lead our members into the future.”
"I am honored to join the USPTA, particularly during this exciting period in the organization’s history,” Burke added. “I look forward to working with our leaders, staff and members as we promote our Association, professional standards and the sport of tennis."
In his role, Burke will work with senior leaders and industry stakeholders to increase brand awareness of the USPTA and the new certification pathway. Additionally, Burke will assist in planning the annual USPTA World Conference, collaborate with national committees and coordinate the awards program with the national awards committee. He will also direct the Association’s national and division communications, including publishing ADDvantage Magazine.
Burke joins the USPTA from Sagicor Life Insurance Company in Tampa, Fla., where he spent nine years as Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Communications. In that position, he managed a number of major corporate sponsorships with professional and college sports organizations. A graduate of Colorado State University, Burke also spent seven years as Manager, Marketing & Business Development at Capital International Management Services.
