Ryan Johnson Presented 2021 USPTA Elevate Award

LAKE NONA, Fla. – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) is proud to present the 2021 USPTA Elevate Award to Ryan Johnson of Phoenix, AZ (Southwest Division).

Our next award is the Elevate Award. It recognizes the achievements of USPTA certified professionals with five or fewer years of service, which, through tennis-teaching and volunteerism, have increased opportunities for others to participate in tennis. This member exemplifies and emphasizes individual achievement and sportsmanship, along with teaching the physical attributes of the sport. In addition, this member has served the USPTA in some capacity and has committed to grassroots tennis in their community.

Ryan joined the USPTA in 2017, and within 30 days, he achieved elite status. He also served on the Pacific Northwest board as a coordinator. In 2018, he was hired as Director of Tennis at Camelback Village. He helped plan, organize, and run the Pacific Northwest 2019 conference even though he lived in the Southwest. Ryan runs several charity events annually at Camelback Village, including Swing for the Cure, Relay for Life, and the Emerald Foundation. In 2020, Ryan served on the Southwest Board as a coordinator.

About the USPTA: Founded in 1927, the USPTA is the global leader in tennis-teacher certification and professional development. With more than 14,000 members worldwide and 17 divisions nationwide, the Association’s mission is to raise the standards of tennis-teaching professionals and coaches and to promote a greater awareness of the sport.
